Great way to start a new school year...

So, I had to go back to school yesterday. (Just teachers--the students don't come until Monday.) Luckily, though, I don't have to be in until 1:00 today since we have to stay until 7:00. They call it a "work day," but I certainly don't want to get all hot and sweaty moving things around in my classroom before meeting all my new li'l darlings' parents tonight at open house. So, I've already been there and arranged everything.

AF decided to show yesterday--just in time for school. Lucky me. (So, now I can smile through the horrendous cramps to explain all the joys of 5th grade to my sweeties and their parents.) I'm not even all that upset about it this time. I guess I don't allow myself to get my hopes up anymore. Right now, there's nothing I can do about it that I haven't already done. If it happens, it happens. Until we get just a few more pounds off, the doc won't re-evaulate DH little swimmers.

I hate open house. I like meeting my students and putting a face with their names, but kids act like totally different people when their parents are around--most of them, anyway. And it never fails, I have parents who bring in their other 4 children and let them run rampant in my classroom. Mind you, I don't usually have a problem disciplining other people's children, but I hate to do it right in front of their parents!

Alas, I must go. I still have a couple of things to get together before I leave for school. Happy Thursday, all!

Much love,

Vent Day......

WARNING--much of this entry will be venting about my *impossible* sister-in-law. Most people who know her agree that she is impossible. I suppose a bit of background info is necessary. First of all, she just has a knack for pissing people off. And she doesn't care, either. She actually became furious with me because I refused to let her daughter (my precious niece) be in my wedding. Never mind the fact that she was 11 months old and couldn't walk at the time!

Anyway, fast forward two years and we come to the latest fiasco. Tomorrow is my niece's 3rd birthday. My brother-in-law called last weekend to tell us that for her birthday, they're taking her to Pu.erto Va.ll.arta (a Mexican restaurant--I'm not sure if it's a chain or not, so please don't think I'm trying to insult your intelligence by explaining that). Please tell me what 3-year-old picks that out for their birthday party? I suppose at least I'll get to be in the air-conditioning. Her other two birthday parties were at their house, and her mother (dear SIL) refused to let anyone in the house because it was clean and we might make it dirty. (I told you she was impossible!)

I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised. They took their 5-year-old to Shogun--the Japanese restaurant--for his birthday last December. And we weren't invited. He asks us every time he sees us why we didn't come to his birthday, and every time I answer with, "Sweetie, we weren't invited." I want him to understand that we weren't there because she chose to leave us out and not because we didn't love him. He then assures me that he will be inviting us this year. Poor kid. He can't help it that his mother is a moron.

The worst part about my niece's birthday plans is that, as you may remember, DH and I have been on a diet all summer. We've decided to treat ourselves to a splurge twice a month--we use payday to guide our dates. The next one falls on Saturday. Well, this restaurant is not on our diet at all! (Not to mention DH doesn't even like Mexican food.) Plus, we dont' want to waste our splurge on a place SHE picked out. We already had a whole "date" planned. It's his turn to pick where we eat (he's not sure where yet) and then we are going to the movies. We plan to eat a light dinner at home before going to the party. I guess we'll be having a Diet drink, and I'm trying to figure out something little we can order without blowing our whole diet for the day.

Sorry to rant on and on and on....this is all I have. I hate to pour it all on my mom all the time. (Trust me--she hears plenty!) And my IRL BF has left for another job, so I don't see her much anymore. If you've made it this far, thanks for reading. I hope your day is being kind to you!

Love,

Wedding cake and other treats...

As I mentioned before, yesterday was our anniversary. I wasn't expecting it to feel any different from any other day. DH and I didn't have any plans--he had to work, I cooked dinner as usual, and then I had play practice for our upcoming community dinner theater. We just returned last weekend from vacation, so we weren't going anywhere. We'd even already done presents. (I got a new I-pod, and he got a Blu-Ray player). I did get him a card, but didn't expect one in return. He's not really the card-buying type. (I don't even get them for Valentine's Day.) So, imagine my surprise when he gets home from work with flowers and a card in hand. So sweet!

After dinner, I pulled out the top tier from our wedding cake. I know, I know. We were supposed to eat that on our first anniversary. Well, we were out of town then, and we just kept forgetting to thaw it out. I was expecting it to be totally gross, but it was delicious! I was so suprised. Although, it didn't really fit in our diet (and we were just hoping it wouldn't make us sick since we haven't had much sugar in the past 6 weeks). We ate our piece and I sent the rest of it to my parents to remove the temptation.

The roses are a little smushed from all the plastic wrap, but I thought it looked pretty good to have been stashed in an ice cream bucket at the bottom of the freezer for two whole years!

I suppose that's enough for today. I hear the dishes calling my name. Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I promise, I'll get better!

Okay, so far I'm dropping the ball on this blog thing. It seems like I can't manage to get very many posts in. I know, I know--it's not a class or somethingI HAVE to get done by a certain deadline, but I feel like I'm not reaping the full therapeutic benefits of blogging. I started this blog to work out my frustrations with IF (and life), but I have to say that once a month just isn't cutting it. So, I'm setting a goal--I want to post once a week. If I get to post more, good for me. If not, I won't be upset with myself.

Today is DH and my second anniversary. It's hard to believe that it's been two whole years since we got married. I actually even teared up this morning when I flipped through our wedding album. I hope every married couple is as happy as we are.

I started taking Me.tfo.rmin at the end of May. So, I've been on it a little over a month now. It's finally stopped making me sick. (Fingers crossed that I didn't just jinx myself!) I took a break from temping for a couple of months because it kinda made me crazy. I fully intended to pick it back up this cycle, but we were on vacation when AF found me and I totally left my thermometer at home. By the time we got back, I was on CD 9, forgot to set my alarm the next morning, and now figure what's the use? I took it this morning, and it was unusually high. It's not like my body to ovulate this early, so I guess I'll just skip the temping again this cycle.

Well, it's about time for my W.i.i. workout. DH went to the doctor a few weeks ago (I guess since I'd been so often to try and get my body straightened out), and the only thing they can tell us about his low sperm count is that he needs to lose some weight. So, we have been walking 2 miles (nearly every day--I think we've missed maybe 3 days since we started--but we can't help rain and thunderstorms) and we got the new personal trainer workout for our W.i.i. Let me tell you, it kicks my butt on some days! I was so sore after the first two days, I could barely walk! That's getting better, though. DH has lost a whopping 20 pounds! I'm so proud of him and his efforts. I've only lost 8. Oh, well. At least I didn't go the other direction!

I hope everyone who reads this has a wonderful day! And, if I don't "talk" to you again this week, have a fabulous rest of the week!

Peace & Love,
