Random thought #287*

Why is there a 'Home' setting on makeup mirrors? Do people really get all dolled up to stay at home? And if they do, why can't they just use the 'Day' setting or 'Evening' setting, depending on what time it is?

Not a Superhero

This morning I felt like SuperMom. Until I figured out I’m not. Allow me to explain.

Lincoln and I had a rough night on Tuesday. He was very congested, and didn’t sleep for more than an hour or so at a time. I finally gave it up and just sat up with him in the rocker in his room so he could breathe easier. Mom and Jeremie took him to the doctor yesterday while I went to work, running on fumes (due to the whole lack of sleep thing). I felt bad for leaving him, but I also knew that one day he’d be sick and want his mommy and I’d probably better save my sick days for then.

Dinner was late due to a faculty meeting, but I still managed to get my family fed before I ventured out to prayer meeting last night, alone. Lincoln stayed home with his daddy and grandma. I fought the urge to stay home and rest…I figured that if I went to work, I could go to church.

We had a better night last night. Lincoln seemed to breathe a little better thanks to his meds, and we made it all the way to 4:15 before he woke up crying. By the time I got his meds drawn up, his formula mixed, and his diaper changed, it was 4:25 and he was ready for that bottle. He wasn’t asleep when he finished, so I rocked him for a while and let the medicine kick in while he struggled to breathe with that stuffy nose. He drifted off somewhere around 5:00. At 5:25, I took him to our bed and surrounded him with pillows, told J he was in bed with him and Jax, and hopped in the shower.

After getting dressed, I cut up some potatoes to go in the crockpot with the roast and carrots for dinner, got that all ready to go and turned it on Low. I finished getting ready, changed Lincoln after he spit up all over himself (as soon as we put him in the carseat), and still managed to leave the house just a couple of minutes later than normal. * Cue rock-star music. Yes. I AM supermom!

NOT.

‘Cause I’m pretty sure Supermom would have remembered to plug the crockpot in.

On Cramps

Having endured natural childbirth (and having lived to tell about it), I feel like a wuss as I contemplate taking some pain reliever for these pesky cramps.

Just a thought...

Ringing in the New Year

I was blessed to spend NYE with this little party animal

who turned into a party pooper when he started screaming (with real tears and everything) after waking up from a nap. We thought his gums might be hurting and found we didn't have any Orajel with us. So we took him home. Tries lots of things until something worked. Then, we weren't sure what did the trick.

Anyway, 2012 was a blessed year. Can't wait to see what 2013 has in store for us!

Hugs and love,
