Fifth grade Funnies

I wrote down a couple of quotes this week from my fifth graders. Ya know, for my book. (Not really, but that's what I told my kiddos when they asked why I was writing them down.). Too funny not to share...

1). we were talking about U.S. territories and I was making the point that we still have some of them and others are now ruled by other countries. We were looking at a map, and a little boy asked, Mrs. Angie, did the Girl Scouts start in American Samoa, 'cause you know, they've got that cookie?"

2.). I really don't know how this conversation got started, but we were talking about things that seemed impossible. A student asked me if anything was impossible, and when I told him that truthfully, some things were, he said, "Yeah, like stapling water to a tree!"

Just wanted to remember these, so I thought I'd share.

In search of lime Skittles...

I learned this week that my beloved green skittles were no longer of the lime variety, but rather, had been replaced by green apple.  Just like everything else.  Blech.  I was heartbroken.  So, today, when J, Lincoln, and I were out, I perused every candy shelf I saw in search of "Original" Skittles.

Wal.Mart didn't have any that didn't say, "Now with Green Apple!"  (As if that's something to be proud of!)

I found some large bags at Tar.get, and put every bag  (6) in my cart.  We were walking away, and J said, "What if somebody else is doing the exact thing you are and gets here to find nothing on the shelf?"  So I put one back.  (I actually told him that I was doing it in case some poor pregnant woman had a craving for lime Skittles and couldn't find them anywhere else.  Yes, I really did.)

I resisted the urge to pick some up at Office Depot because I refuse to pay twice the amount for candy at an office supply store.  However, as we were in the checkout line at Kroger, I did make J look at the single serving bags to see if they had been doomed.  (The larger bags in the candy aisle had already fallen victim.)  They weren't!  So, I bought six small bags of them there.  Again, I left one for some poor soul in search of lime.  Plus, I didn't hit the other check-out aisles.

After some research, I have learned that I may still be able to have my lime Skittles...but perhaps for a "limited time."

To say I am disappointed is an understatement.  I may just have to boycott.  When I run out of Skittles, of course.
