How to Feel Productive

Two posts in one day.  Some kind of record...at least for 2012.  I'll admit, I started the last one a few days ago.  Just never got to finish it.  I had more bulleted items in my head when I started it, but alas, they are now gone.

We didn’t have school today.  I’ve never completely understood why we don’t, but I’m just going to be thankful for this extra day off.  I looked so forward to it so I could get caught up and snuggle with my little peanut.  Yeah, that’s not happening so much.

Here’s my “To-Do List” for the day:
      1.        Make to do list
      2.       Laundry
      3.       Snuggle with Lincoln * marked off, but will likely be done again
      4.       Snuggle with Jax
      5.       fold laundry from baskets
      6.       put away luggage and sort gifts from vacation (never mind it was in OCTOBER)
      7.       give Lincoln bath
      8.       photo shoot for Christmas card  (I tried...does that count?)
      9.       work on gifts for co-workers
     10.   blog

I don’t know what in the world made me think I’d get all 10 things done today.  So far, I’ve managed to cross off #1, 3, 4, and 10.  Laundry is more than half done.  Photo shoot was an epic fail.  I’m going to need some help with that one.  The bath WILL get done before church tonight, even if that means no dinner (of course, so far, there hasn’t been lunch either and it’s already after 1:00).
Suzy Homemaker over here decided to make gifts for my fellow 5th grade teachers for Christmas this year.  (Sorry…I can’t share just yet—some of them read my blog sometimes.)  I have gathered most of the materials (just waiting on one more things…I think) and have them ready to assemble.  I just need some time to myself and quiet.  I am a quiet worker.  I need silence, and there’s not a lot of that going around.  Maybe in the middle of the night…

That leaves #5 and #6.  I’m hoping Lincoln will stay “entertained” by his Baby Einstein musical whatever-that-thing-is-called long enough for me to fold the towels and underwear in the basket.  I’m already going to have to re-wet my hair so I won’t scare people at church tonight.  Gee, how do moms get things done?  I admire you all.
I’ll leave you with some outtakes from my attempt at a Christmas card picture.

After a couple of pics, Jax had had enough and he left...

...to go pout.

Randoms and 3 Months of Lincoln

* So much on my mind lately.  Things I worry about...things I want to get out of my head...much of which I can't even blog about.  I don't like controversy.  I'd rather cut off my right arm than hurt somebody.  And nobody's done anything to me.  That's why I want to get all this crap out of my head.  Maybe I'll type it all out and delete it.  Might make me feel better.  Mostly, I guess I'm having a pity-party in my head.  I don't like the "poor, pitiful me" feeling, and I refuse to complain to those who are taking the time to stop by my corner of the blogosphere.  I'll snap out of this.  I will.  I need to just count my blessings instead...

* Yesterday marked Lincoln's 3-month "birthday."  Wow!  Three months already.  The irony?  Yesterday also marked 2 years from our first transfer.  When will I not remember that stuff anymore?

*  I've contemplated starting a new blog for all of my Lincoln posts.  I realize that not everyone cares when he reaches milestones.  But I need to keep this space, too.  It got me through some rough times and I can't just abandon it.

Reflecting

Two years ago today, our sweet peanut was conceived.  He, along with 9 "siblings" survived the 5 days until transfer...and then most of them were frozen.  I've thought a lot today about the hope we had after our retrieval.  There was a lot of heartache between then and now, but we came out on the other side stronger for it.  It doesn't make me a better mom for it, but it sure makes me a thankful one.

On a lighter note, my brother and I were talking about this, and I mentioned that J and I would have to come up with a good response for when Lincoln asks us, "Where did I come from?"  Of course, it will all depend on how old he is, but we decided this will be a kicka$$ Two-Truths-and-a-Lie statment.  (Not in the fifth grade, of course...)  "I was frozen for a year."  Or even, "My brother/sister is two years younger than I am [purely hypothetical], but we were conceived on the same day." (This one hinges on whether or not our final transfer is successful.)

Now that things are settling into more of a routine, I hope to be a better blog friend.  I say that  a lot.  Please know that I am reading daily.  I just don't always get around to commenting.  That's what I hope to improve.

Lincoln's First Halloween

Since he was only 11 weeks old, we opted to skip trick-or-treating this year.  But I think I had the cutest li'l pumpkin from the patch!

This one's not from Halloween, but I love it, anyway!

Me with both my boys after school.  Jax was glad to see us!

Couldn't leave out my "Jax-o-lantern"
